My name is Angie and I run Vale Dog Care, my dog walking and dog care business in the Vale of Glamorgan www.valedogcare.co.uk.
Twenty five years of dog ownership, along with taking care of countless dogs for others, has helped me gain an understanding of how dogs tick.
Along with all the many happy go lucky dogs I’ve looked after, I’ve cared for dogs who are anxious or have been poorly socialised, dogs who have injuries or disabilities and dogs with strong prey drives or high levels of dominance. For all their differences, all dogs are essentially the same when it comes to what they need to become balanced, and that is firm leadership and consistency.
Throughout my conversations with dog owners throughout the years, it never ceases to amaze me just how many have similar anxieties and issues with their dogs. A little bit of information goes a long way, so I’ve created this Blog to discuss topics that come up in conversation with my clients.
Feel free to comment or suggest new topics for discussion.
Angie, I’ve see you out with your dogs running by the side f your mountain bike over the years. How do you stop them from running under the wheels and chucking you off? They seem so well trained. Reason I ask is that I want to take Ben out when I go cycling but I’m not sure it’s a good plan. Do you think I could hold the lead and cycle at the same time?
Hi Col, nice to see you here. Not sure that Ben is a natural follower, but you could always try him off lead at Porthkerry. I’ll put something on this Blog about cycling with dogs tonight or tomorrow okay? But in the meantime I definitely DO NOT advise you try and cycle with Ben on a lead, he’s a strong lab and he will end up killing you both for sure.
